Manchester United sent Erik ten Hag warning as Rio Ferdinand names two ideal summer signings

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he would like to see Manchester United strengthen their defensive options in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos and Ronald Araujo from Barcelona top of his wish list.

United — who bolstered their centre-back options with the addition of Raphael Varane last summer — have struggled defensively this season, so much so that they have conceded more goals (40) than anyone else currently in the top eight in the Premier League table. Injury issues, illness and poor form have put pay to United's hopes of having a settled backline throughout the campaign.
