Manchester United send letter to fans after backlash against unpopular Sir Jim Ratcliffe decision

Manchester United fans have been sent a survey to gauge their thoughts on MUTV amid complaints over the club's reduced academy coverage this season.

The Manchester Evening News revealed last month that United's in-house coverage had been impacted by job losses, which are intended to streamline the organisation.

United's academy has a large following around the world and MUTV have regularly shown Under-18 and Under-21 fixtures over the years, so fans can keep up to date with the development of United's youngsters, but a source said 'hard choices' will now have to be made.

Sometimes U21 games can't be shown on MUTV because they clash with Premier League fixtures, but sources have conceded that media resources need to be stretched across the men's, women's and academy teams, which means United are forced to make compromises.

Although United have reiterated they recognise and appreciate the significant interest that fans have in the development of the club's youth players and it briefly seemed like coverage had been restored, the U18s' game against Newcastle at the weekend wasn't broadcast.

Angry supporters have expressed their disappointment at the changes on social media and they now have the chance to explain how they feel in a survey sent via email by the club.

United sent an email to MUTV subscribers on Wednesday to gauge opinions on the current service and that is an opportunity for fans to tell the club how they feel.

United fans who subscribe to MUTV and haven't received the email are advised to check their junk/spam inboxes, provided they want to have their voices heard on the service.
