Manchester United's squad depth for next season if they secure five new signings

Following the Premier League's announcement on Wednesday morning, there are now just 19 days separating Manchester United and the start of the summer transfer window.

It has been confirmed that the window will open for business on Wednesday, June 14, and will not slam shut until 11pm on Friday, September 1. It means every club in the top flight, as well as those in the EFL, will have more than two months to get their business done.

Last summer, of course, marked the beginning of a new dawn at Old Trafford following the appointment of Erik ten Hag, meaning it was one of the biggest windows the club had faced in years. United brought in a total of six new signings, five of which joined on permanent deals, including the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony.

Though last summer was important, this upcoming window could be just as crucial. Despite the progress that United have made this term, they still need reinforcements, both for Ten Hag's strongest starting line-up and the squad as a whole to add some much-needed depth to key areas.

As everyone knows, signing a striker is going to be the club's leading priority this summer. Ten Hag wants to add a world-class goal-getter to his ranks and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is the Dutchman's top target, though the Reds are reluctant to "play games" with Spurs and chairman Daniel Levy.

A move for Kane or any other big-name striker with similar goalscoring capabilities is going to significantly eat into the Reds' transfer budget, meaning they could be forced to box clever with the remainder of their summer recruitment drive. Napoli ace Victor Osimhen is also another active target.
