Manchester United's Sofyan Amrabat sends prayers after Morocco earthquake

Sofyan Amrabat has sent his best wishes to those affected by the tragic earthquake in Morocco.

Hundreds of people have been killed after a devastating earthquake his Marrakesh and other cities at 11pm local time on Friday. The quake measured at 6.8 on the Richter scale, causing heavy damage and building collapses.

Amrabat was initially named as part of the Morocco squad for their upcoming international friendlies but withdrew due to a small injury. United stated earlier on Friday that the midfielder would 'return to work at Carrington'.

Unsurprisingly, the news has stirred the Moroccan international and he shared his thoughts on the news on his Instagram page. Writing on his story, he wrote 'Pray for Morocco' and 'God Bless' alongside images of the rubble.

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly wrote on X: "Devastating news of a substantial earthquake just outside Marrakesh, Morocco. The UK is continuing to support British nationals in the region. We stand ready to help our Moroccan friends in whatever way we can."

Other world leaders have sent their support. In addition to the 800-plus people that died, hundreds more have also been injured.
