Manchester United's predicted XI under Roberto De Zerbi with four new signings

Roberto De Zerbi could dramatically change the starting XI at Manchester United if he replaces Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

While there are no imminent plans to sack the Dutchman at this stage, MEN Sport understands Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not completely sold on Ten Hag and is weighing up who he could replace him with. One manager being observed is Brighton and Hove Albion's boss De Zerbi who has kept an open mind to his future beyond this season.

While the Italian head coach is in no rush to leave the South Coast, he could be drawn to the INEOS project and working at a club that has the potential to be challenging for the Premier League. But if he takes up the challenge, De Zerbi will be keen to see fresh players join the team.

With this in mind, MEN Sport has had a go at predicting the starting XI if De Zerbi joined the club.

Defenders - Diogo Dalot, Levi Colwill, Lisandro Martinez, Pervis Estupinan

The first changes to the starting XI would come in defence. Raphael Varane has yet to have his contract extended at Old Trafford and with each passing day it seems more likely he will be allowed to depart.

While Colwill is popular at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea's Financial Fair Play (FFP) concerns are even more prevalent than United's so a fire sale is on the horizon. After a poor season, there may not be loads of suitors for the London club's unwanted stars
