Manchester United's plans for Amad, Alvaro Fernandez and Hannibal in pre-season

Manchester United will wait until after their pre-season tour of the US before making transfer decisions on a number of promising youngsters this summer.

The Manchester Evening News understands a number of academy prospects have already been earmarked for potential loan moves, but those plans could be altered depending on how they fare over the coming months.

Amad and Alvaro Fernandez are two youngsters who are set to be given an opportunity in the senior set-up this summer before any decisions are made over their futures.

The young duo both shone on loan in the Championship last season and are attracting plenty of interest should they be allowed to leave the club again.

Amad and Fernandez both won Young Player of the Year awards during their recent spells at Sunderland and Preston North End respectively.

Erik ten Hag is eager to cast an eye over Amad before deciding if he will be kept around the first-team squad next season, while Fernandez could also get a chance in the first team despite the expectation he will leave on loan again later in the window.

It looks like it will be a similar story for Hannibal Mejbri as well. The 20-year-old is expected to be part of United's pre-season plans but could leave on loan again as he looks to build upon the experience he gained last season at Birmingham.

Charlie McNeill is another player likely to leave the club on loan after his impressive half-season with Newport County earlier in the year, but United's lack of striker options could see him involved in the summer before a decision is made on which club he could join next.

McNeill is entering the final year of his current deal at Old Trafford
