Manchester United's Donny van de Beek U-turns on agent's next transfer comments

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has refused to rule out the possibility of a move to Ajax this summer, despite his agent insisting he would not return to the Amsterdam giants.

Over the weekend, the Dutchman's agent issued an update on his client's future, confirming Eintracht Frankfurt will not sign him on a permanent basis this summer. He joined the German club on loan for the rest of the season in January.

Van de Beek, who joined United from Ajax in September 2020, has struggled for minutes at the Bundesliga outfit, making just eight appearances. He will return to United in the coming weeks ahead of the club attempting to offload him on a permanent deal.

His agent confirmed that a return to Ajax was not an option for Van de Beek, but the midfielder has said otherwise, admitting the club holds a special place in his heart. He made 175 appearances for the Dutch giants before joining United.

"Why not? Ajax has always been a special place for me, so we certainly cannot rule that out," Van de Beek told Ziggo Sport. "At Ajax only one thing matters: winning and becoming champions.

"Now European football and fifth place is the highest achievable after a turbulent year. It's difficult now, but Ajax always bounces back.

"I have also had mixed years due to injuries. But now I'm looking forward again. If I keep working hard, I'm confident things will turn out fine.

"It is up to you to turn it around. I'm working on that. I am convinced of my own qualities. If I stay fit and keep working hard, I will definitely be fine."
