How Jadon Sancho went from Man United flop to Champions League hero - and what must happen next

There has been near-constant speculation over Jadon Sancho's long-term future since returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.

A feud with United boss Erik ten Hag saw Sancho's first-team involvement diminish and he was forced to secure first-team football away from Old Trafford. The 24-year-old returned to his former club as a result, and is expected to be involved in their Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday night.

Under contract until 2026, Sancho's future will be discussed again upon his return to the club. Whether he stays at Old Trafford could depend on whether Ten Hag will remain in charge. The Dutchman's future is also up in the air as there is a chance that Sir Jim Ratcliffe could make a change ahead of next season.

With that said, MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest news surrounding Sancho.

Sancho began his youth career at Watford at the age of seven. He was then picked up by Manchester City in 2015 but didn't make an appearance for the first-team before leaving to join Dortmund in 2017, aged just 17.

He initially started playing for Dortmund's B team and a year later, he made his debut in the Bundesliga against VfL Wolfsburg. After four years and 157 appearances under his belt, he made the switch to Old Trafford for a £73million fee.

Ten Hag and Sancho had a public falling out and it was claimed that the Dutch boss encountered 'issues' with the winger, who was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021.
