Manchester United's Donny van de Beek sends heartfelt message after Everton loan

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has shared an emotional 'thank you' message to everyone associated with Everton following the conclusion of his loan spell at Goodison Park.

The Dutchman — who will now be aiming to be a part of Erik ten Hag's revolution at Old Trafford next season — joined the Toffees on loan in January, in a bid to earn more regular first-team football. He had been starved of opportunities at United up until moving to Merseyside on deadline day, making just eight Premier League appearances this term.

Unfortunately for the former Ajax man, injuries restricted him to just seven appearances for the club. A thigh problem hindered his progress — meaning he made just one appearance between mid-March and the end of the season.

However, Van de Beek did sign off with a goal, finding the back of the net in Sunday's 5-1 final day defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Nevertheless, despite and up and down spell, he has issued a farewell message to everyone connected with the club ahead of returning to Old Trafford for next season.

On Instagram, Van de Beek wrote: "Not the way we wanted to finish the season but we already reached our goal [survival] a few days ago. I want to thank all the players, staff and especially the fans who were there in the good and tough times. Up the Toffees."
