Manchester United's big transfer window plan has backfired and could hurt Pochettino or Ten Hag
Manchester United had a plan for their departures in the January window to try and aid their summer window.
A few weeks down the line, however now a few months on, the scheme seems to be backfiring already.
Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Amad were all sent out temporarily to clubs in Spain, England and Scotland respectively to serve different end goals for United.
Martial's brief was to refind his form with the possibility of returning to the first team in the summer or drumming up interest for a potential move away from Old Trafford.
But at Sevilla he has struggled to find his feet. So far he has played four LaLiga games, starting in three and being benched for the Spanish side's most recent game against Rayo Vallecano. In this time he has only registered one top-flight assist.
It seems that Martial is struggling to shake the issues that plagued his last few months at United. His decision making is still poor and he lacks the sharpness in his dribbling that made him such an effective force going down the wing early in his Old Trafford career.
It seems unlikely that Sevilla will try to make the deal permanent in the summer, nor will any club be willing to sign him and take on his huge £250k a week wage packet.
Van de Beek on the other hand was loaned out with an eye on a long-term future at United. The hope was he would go to a team that had some stability and give them the capacity to link up their attacks.
He would have likely played this role if he joined Crystal Palace, who are comfortable in mid-table under Patrick Vieira. Instead, he joined Everton, who are nothing short of a shambles currently.
