Manchester United to take on Liverpool and Crystal Palace in pre-season friendlies

Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool will clash in a pre-season friendly in Thailand in July.

United will then fly to Australia to take on Crystal Palace the following week.

The Old Trafford club meet Jurgen Klopp's side on July 12 at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.

They will then head to Australia where they will face Melbourne Victory at the 100,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground on July 15. Four days later, they will play Patrick Vieira's Crystal Palace.

United's chief operating officer Collette Roche said: "It has been two years since the club has been able to travel on an international pre-season tour, so we can't wait to get going this summer and reconnect with our fans in South-east Asia and Australasia."

United will be hoping to have installed a new permanent manager before the tour kicks off. Whoever comes in will replace interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who was handed the role on a temporary basis after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

There are currently four main candidates in the running for the Old Trafford job after Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui this week ruled himself out of consideration.

Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag, who has already been interviewed by United bosses, is the current favourite to land the role, with Paris Saint-Germain's Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel and Spain's Luis Enrique also possible candidates.

On the prospect of taking on United in Melbourne, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said: "We are absolutely delighted to be visiting Australia for the first time in the club's history.
