Manchester United's Andre Onana could miss Cameroon match after private plane was blocked

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is facing a race against time to play Cameroon's opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations after his private jet was blocked due to bad weather.

Onana agreed to join up with Cameroon for their AFCON campaign in the Ivory Coast at a later date to enable him to represent United in matches against Wigan and Tottenham.

The 27-year-old started at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon and began his journey after the game, but his private jet was blocked in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Monday morning due to bad weather conditions in Yamoussoukro, which is where Cameroon will play Guinea.

Yamoussoukro Airport has been surrounded by fog, which means it's not safe for planes to land. A report from Sports Vibes has indicated that Onana will now attempt to travel to the stadium by car.

The journey from Abidjan to the Charles Konan Banny Stadium will take just under three hours and Onana's participation in Cameroon's opening game has been thrown into doubt.

Cameroon journalists have suggested on social media that their nation's back-up goalkeeper will be required to start instead.

Onana pushed to represent United against Tottenham and deferred his call-up to Cameroon duty because he feared he could lose his status as the No.1 goalkeeper at the club.

Altay Bayindir will be used in Onana's absence and he joined United from Fenerbahce in the summer but is yet to be handed his debut.
