Manchester United could be contenders to sign Fabian Ruiz from Napoli, although they face competition from Arsenal, according to a report.
Ruiz is entering the final year of his contract with Napoli, where he has played since 2018. It seems unlikely he will agree to a renewal, so the Serie A side are considering his sale.
The Premier League could be the Spaniard’s next destination. He has been linked with Arsenal and Newcastle United in recent weeks.
But according to RAI journalist Ciro Venerato, Manchester United could pose a threat to Arsenal in particular in the transfer battle.
He told Domenica Sportive Estate that Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is ready to sell the central midfielder.
Venerato said: “De Laurentiis would like to give away Fabian Ruiz, valued at €30m, and on him are Arsenal and Manchester United.”
In a further sign Napoli are preparing for Ruiz’s exit, Venerato named Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak as their target to replace him.
