Manchester United right winger set for transfer after release

Manchester United youngster Connor Stanley is set to sign for a Football League side after being released by the club.

The 20-year-old right winger was one of 11 players released by United in the summer transfer window after their retained list was officially announced on Friday afternoon.

The Manchester Evening News understands Stanley will shortly sign for a side in the North West after his four-year spell at Old Trafford came to an end.

Stanley joined United from Birmingham City in August 2018 and went on to play in a variety of positions for both the U18s and the U23s.

A year ago, he moved to the United States for a short period of time as he joined Atlanta United's second team on loan.

Stanley is not the only youth team player leaving United this summer, with forward D'Mani Mellor departing after over a decade at the club, while midfielder Martin Svidersky has rejected a new deal at Old Trafford in order to move to La Liga.

Reece Devine has also left the club, while Paul McShane has retired from playing and will continue in his coaching role in the academy. Goalkeeper Paul Woolston was forced to retire at the age of just 23 back in March.

Meanwhile, United have triggered a one-year extension on midfielder Dylan Levitt's contract, to keep him at the club until at least June 2023.
