Manchester United predicted XI vs Lyon as Ruben Amorim unleashes additional attacker
Manchester United will be targeting a first leg advantage when they face Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Europa League at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday evening.
United, who last faced the French outfit back in 2008, have ambitions of going the full distance in the competition this season after experiencing a testing campaign domestically. The Reds cruised into the quarter-finals of the competition last month after beating Real Sociedad 5-1 on aggregate.
Since beating Sociedad 4-1 in the second leg of that last-16 tie, United have experienced contrasting results, beating Leicester City 3-0, losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest and most recently drawing 0-0 with Manchester City.
Ahead of the clash with the Ligue 1 outfit, United head coach Ruben Amorim has been boosted by the return of midfielder Kobbie Mainoo after ten games out injured. He was included in the 23-man travelling squad that travelled to France on Wednesday afternoon.
As ever, Andre Onana is poised to start in goal. The goalkeeper, who will targeting back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since September, will be determined to help United live up to the tag of favourites after he declared the Reds are "way better" than Lyon in the mixed zone after Sunday's stalemate with City.
Ahead of the Cameroonian, Amorim could name the same defence that started against Pep Guardiola's side, meaning Noussair Mazraoui could once again find himself starting on the right of the back-three. Harry Maguire was solid in the middle and Leny Yoro was excellent on the left.
