Manchester United players slammed for wastefulness in front of goal after dropping more points

Manchester United have been slammed for their wasteful nature in front of goal, having once again produced a disappointing performance against Southampton.

United dropped more vital points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Saints at Old Trafford, with Ralf Rangnick’s side once again throwing away their lead after Jadon Sancho’s goal was cancelled out by Che Adams.

The result leaves United with a lot of work to do in their quest to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season, having picked up just two points in their two games this week, both of which they would have been expected to win.

They’ve paid the price for their profligacy in front of goal though, having been pegged back by Middlesbrough, Burnley and now Southampton in the last week, while their usual source for goals Cristiano Ronaldo is on his longest goal drought of the season, having now gone six games without scoring.

And former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has slammed them for their wastefulness, and feels too many of the players aren’t producing.

“First of all, you’ve got to be clinical, and I wouldn’t associate that with some of the forwards that they’ve had,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“I don’t think Sancho’s played well enough or been clinical enough when he’s been given the opportunity.
