Manchester United player Bruno Fernandes responds to infamous Gabby Agbonlahor criticism

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes revealed a phone call from Juan Mata calmed him down following Gabby Agbonlahor's criticism of the club and the player last weekend.

Fernandes and his teammates put in a horror performance at Brentford last Saturday and were steam-rolled by the Bees 4-0. Criticism of the Reds came from far and wide at full-time as Erik ten Hag's men were accused of lacking fight in the dismal display.

One critic of the performance was former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor who went in on the United player. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "You know what, Ten Hag, just pack up. He's had pre-season and they have started the season as a shambles, they're like strangers on the pitch. They're just not good enough.

Agbonlahor went on to single Fernandes out for criticism, labelling him the "worst possible teammate" and saying he "gets away with murder".

His comments led to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp calling out the pundit and claiming that he 'nearly rang' talkSPORT to put Agbonlahor straight. When asked whether the comments from the 35-year-old worried him, Fernandes told ELEVEN : "It's honestly not something that worries me too much.
