Manchester United pair Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen withdraw from Denmark squad due to injury

Manchester United pair Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen have both withdrawn from the Danish national team squad due to injury.

The pair were both forced off during United's 1-0 win at home to Luton Town on Saturday. Eriksen was replaced by Mason Mount in the first-half after sustaining a knee problem while Hojlund hobbled straight down the tunnel holding his hamstring 10 minutes from time.

Both were due to join up with their Denmark teammates for two upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Slovenia and Northern Ireland. But on Monday morning, confirmation came that they were to be replaced by Jesper Lindstrom and Jens Stryger Larsen.

United are yet to provide a clear update on either Hojlund or Eriksen, with Erik ten Hag insisting on Saturday that they would have to await further assessment before getting a clear picture. Asked about the latest injury scare, he was unable to offer much guidance on the severity of their setbacks.

"In this moment, I can't comment anything about it because I don't know the assessment," Ten Hag said. "You have to wait 24 hours. Give them and the medical (team) 24 hours to see what is the problem, if there is a problem."

Hojlund and Eriksen are the latest players to pick up injuries as United continue to lose first-team players. On Saturday, Ten Hag was without the likes of Casemiro, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw for the clash with newly promoted Luton.
