Manchester United officials meet fan group determined to oust Glazer family from Old Trafford

Manchester United supporters' group The 1958 remain determined to see the Glazer family's ownership of the club ended and have launched a new fan coalition to try and unify supporters.

The 1958 group organised many of the protests against the Glazers that were so prevalent at Old Trafford before Sir Jim Ratcliffe's £1.25bn investment into the club.

While Ratcliffe owns just over a quarter of the club, with the Glazers still the majority shareholders, he is now the primary decision-maker regarding United.

But while Ratcliffe is now the visible face of United's ownership, The 1958 continue to work towards the goal of ousting the Glazers entirely. They have launched FC58, a coalition group aimed at being an "alternative supporters' collective."

Officials from the group have met with the club's chief operating officer, Collette Roche, and director of fan engagement, Rick McGagh.

In launching their mission statement, FC58 said: "This year we received an unprecedented mandate to represent our fanbase in matters of great importance. We are not going to let you down.

"Whilst we closely monitor the potential for Sir Jim to remove the Glazers from the club, we will create the organisation to forcibly make it happen if that is necessary.

"Currently everyone is in a state of limbo and it’s pragmatic to let things play out and run a natural course. However, we see this as a window of opportunity and a lot of work's been going on behind the scenes. We have not been sitting idle.
