Manchester United might have to be creative with transfer targets amid Darwin Nunez links

Pep Guardiola is fond of a cigar and he could be forgiven for lighting up a big one as he takes a break before it all starts again next season. Not only are Manchester City champions again but they're one of the few big clubs in the Premier League to be happy with their attacking options going into the summer.

Of the Premier League's traditional big six it is now City, thanks to the signing of Erling Haaland, and Tottenham, who look like keeping Harry Kane, who are relaxing when it comes to their firepower ahead of 2022/23.

For their four rivals, and for Newcastle, who might have an eye on breaking into that elite next season, the scramble is on to sign a new attacker.

Manchester United have Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line but it's clear another forward is required to ease the burden on the 37-year-old and add to the goals tally from the front three.

Liverpool look like they will need a replacement for Sadio Mane, Arsenal are set to be left with just Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku continue to look like an unhappy marriage. Newcastle quite clearly need an upgrade on Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.

How those clubs go about solving those issues could have a knock-on effect for the others in what is going to be a fascinating 2022 summer transfer window.

United's priority remains strengthening in midfield and attack at the moment and while a right-winger would also be ideal, they need a young centre forward to bolster the squad, rotating with Ronaldo and ideally being ready to replace him in 12 months' time.
