Manchester United might have just found their wildcard striker option ahead of transfer window

France international Marcus Thuram has all but confirmed that he will leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer amid ongoing links connecting him with a move to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old, who was born in Italy, is set to leave the German club at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract. He has been with Monchengladbach since July 2019, following switch from French outfit Guingamp, reportedly worth €12million.

Capable of playing both through the middle as a striker and on the left-wing, the Frenchman has gone from strength to strength during his time in Germany, scoring a total of 44 goals and grabbing 28 assists in 132 appearances in all competitions. He has often been a reliable predator in front of goal and has, as a result, been a regular fixture in the France squad in the last couple of years.

Thuram, who turns 26 in August, has scored 16 goals and grabbed six assists in 30 appearances for Monchengladbach this term, representing his best-scoring season for the club. Thirteen of his 16 goals have come in the Bundesliga, making him the third-highest goalscorer in the division this season.

Though Monchengladbach are yet to officially announce that he will move on at the end of the campaign, Thuram has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will leave the Bundesliga side in search of a fresh adventure.
