Manchester United midfielder wanted by Leicester following impressive Championship loan spell

Manchester United midfielder James Garner, who has spent this season on loan at Nottingham Forest, is reportedly a transfer target for Leicester City.

The 21-year-old has made 48 appearances in all competitions for Forest this season and will be part of Steve Cooper’s side for the play-off final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Garner has been in impressive form, especially since the arrival of Cooper and has been one of the major reasons for their dramatic turnaround from bottom of the league, to chasing promotion to the Premier League.

If Forest do triumph at Wembley, they could look to bring the midfielder back next season, be it permanently or on another loan deal.

That could depend on what incoming united manager Erik Ten Hag thinks of Garner, who will likely be given the chance to impress in pre-season.

However, if Ten Hag makes the decision that Garner can depart Old Trafford, another Premier League side are reportedly keen on making a move for him.

The Mirror are reporting that Leicester have shown an interest in the young midfielder and could make a move this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to rebuild his squad following a disappointing season.

The Foxes could lose star midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer as they look to to reduce the risk of losing him on a free next summer with Arsenal reportedly keen on the Belgian.

Leeds and Southampton are also said to be keen on Garner and with interest from a number of different parties, it looks set to be a interesting summer surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, United legend Gary Neville has likened the role that Steve McClaren will do at Old Trafford to what Brian Kidd did at Manchester City.
