Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen sends message to David de Gea and Harry Maguire

Christian Eriksen has told David de Gea and Harry Maguire to bounce back quickly from their mistakes in Manchester United's disastrous defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League.

United were beaten 3-0 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pijuan to exit the competition 5-2 on aggregate, but having let the La Liga side back into the tie with two late own goals last week, they further contributed to their own downfall in Spain.

De Gea was culpable for all three goals and Maguire gave possession away for the first, having asked for the ball from his goalkeeper in a dangerous area.

That first goal came after eight minutes and United never recovered from the body blow of Youssef En-Nesyri's strike. De Gea failed to keep out Loic Bade's second-half header and then had a calamity with his feet to present En-Nesyri with another gift.

De Gea will have to recover in time for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Brighton at Wembley, but Maguire is suspended for that fixture against the Seagulls.

Eriksen admitted United were unable to recover from their mistakes in a red-hot atmosphere in Seville, but believes the team will be over those aberrations by the time Sunday's game kicks off.

"It's easy, every football player makes mistakes in a game," Eriksen told BT Sport. "Mistakes like this, they punish us straight away at this level, so of course, we had to take that away, but in the end, it's how you bounce back from the mistakes.

"I don't think we were strong enough to bounce back from the mistakes we gave them. I think it will be easy [to bounce back], everyone who is a footballer has bad days, so the next day they will change that."
