Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag speaks out on future amid Gareth Southgate speculation

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag dismissed "the noise" surrounding his future, claiming he doesn't care about speculation.

England manager Gareth Southgate and Wolves manager Gary O'Neil were both touted as potential replacements for Ten Hag during the March internationals amid ongoing uncertainty over the Dutchman's role.

United have reached the FA Cup semi-finals, have a game in hand on fourth-placed Aston Villa and are six points behind Tottenham in fifth in the Premier League table. Yet United were eliminated from European competition completely before Christmas and their defence of the League Cup ended at the second hurdle.

Ten Hag's side have suffered 16 defeats this season and 11 have come in the league - one shy of their seasonal joint-worst in the Premier League era.

However, back-to-back wins against Everton and Liverpool, particularly the manner of the latter in the FA Cup quarter-finals, have boosted Ten Hag's approval ratings among the United fanbase.

Southgate described reports regarding Ten Hag's position as "disrespectful" and all but ruled himself out of taking over at United in the summer. England are targeting European Championship glory on July 14 - ten days before United travel to the United States for their pre-season tour.

United have assessed Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi as a potential replacement for Ten Hag, who is unconcerned by stories centred on his position.
