Manchester United make Sergio Reguilon decision as trio set for loan exits

Sergio Reguilon has returned to Tottenham after having his season-long loan spell cut short by Manchester United.

The left-back was brought in over the summer to cover for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia amid their long-term injuries. Shaw has now returned while Malacia is expected to be available for selection again by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, United are looking to loan out three academy stars in a bid to widen their experience of senior football. Dan Gore, who made his first-team debut in September, is one of those who could be loaned out to an EFL club before deadline day.

Reguilon will return to Tottenham after a four-month loan at United. Left-back Reguilon joined United on transfer deadline day as cover for long-term absentees Malacia and Shaw.

United and Tottenham both inserted a break clause into the deal and United have sent Reguilon back to injury-hit Spurs ahead of the clubs' meeting at Old Trafford on Sunday week.

Shaw has missed the last two games with a minor niggle and Malacia is scheduled to return from a six-month lay-off in mid-January after two rounds of knee surgery. Sources at United insist they always regarded Reguilon as a short-term signing until the January transfer window amid Malacia's expected return.

United are considering loaning midfielder Dan Gore this month. Gore, 19, made his debut against Crystal Palace in the League Cup win in September and he has already generated interest from Preston North End, as well as other Championship clubs.

Fellow midfielders Casemiro and Mason Mount are expected to return from injury in mid-January
