Manchester United 'make final Patrick Dorgu transfer decision' as imminent action planned

Manchester United are reportedly ready to make a fresh attempt to sign Lecce star Patrick Dorgu.

United have expressed an interest in signing Dorgu as they look to sign a new left-back. The transfer window closes next Monday, which gives United less than a week to complete their transfer business until the summer.

The Manchester Evening News reported last week that United are in talks with Lecce over a deal to sign Dorgu. So far, those negotiations have yet to reach a resolution, but it seems that a conclusion may not be too far away based on the latest update.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, United will submit a new bid to sign Dorgu in the next 24 to 48 hours. It has not been stated what fee United are prepared to offer the Serie A club, but it does state that talks have been progressing well in recent days.

Reports have suggested that Lecce are seeking a fee worth around €40million (£33.6million) to allow Dorgu to leave the club before the transfer window closes. United have identified the 20-year-old as their prime target to strengthen the left wing-back role in Ruben Amorim's system.

Amorim has predominantly been utilising Diogo Dalot as a left-back since his arrival at United back in November. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are the other left-back options in the United squad, but the Old Trafford hierarchy have identified the position as the one area in need of reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

Dorgu has made 23 appearances for Lecce this season, 20 of which have come in Serie A, and also has three goals to his name. The Denmark international is also capable of performing on the right wing, which is where he played when he scored his three goals this term.
