Manchester United make change to matchday plans vs Brentford

Manchester United have taken the rare step to leave on the day of an away game due to the late kick-off time at Brentford.

United have been saddled with an 8pm kick-off in West London on Easter Saturday for their first game after the March internationals.

The delayed departure will also allow certain players additional time to recover from injury or illness before United fly to London this morning.

Kobbie Mainoo missed United's training session on Thursday as he was unwell but he arrived at their Carrington training complex on Friday.

United usually instruct unwell players to stay away from the first team squad to reduce the risk of a virus spreading.

"Yesterday he skipped training because he was ill. I don’t know (if he will be fit for Brentford)," United manager Erik ten Hag said. "We hope. Today he is there (in training), not fully recovered but we still have many hours before tomorrow with kick-off at 8pm."

Casemiro has resumed outdoor training this week after missing the FA Cup quarter-final triumph over Liverpool with a hamstring injury. Ten Hag suggested he would return to the squad against Brentford.

United are due to make a late assessment on the fitness of Jonny Evans, who has been managing a knock in recent weeks.

Evans, 36, came off injured in the Manchester derby defeat away to City on March 3 and he was due to start against Liverpool two weeks later but withdrew the day before the game.

Harry Maguire sustained an injury on international duty with England and could miss out at the Community Stadium.

United were scheduled to fly to Newcastle for their Saturday
