Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial dealt another blow with Julen Lopetegui injury update

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has confirmed Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial has returned to first-team training but isn't fit enough to be in the squad for this weekend's clash with Villarreal.

The Frenchman has been out of action since he limped off in his side's defeat to Real Madrid. He has since missed two matches for Lopetegui's men as he is forced to overcome the second injury of his temporary move away from United.

Martial's stop-start time in Spain has hampered his development after a bright beginning to life in La Liga. As it stands, Sevilla sit third in the league table, three points clear of Atletico Madrid and six clear of Real Betis who sit just outside the Champions League places.

Sevilla travel to beaten Champions League semi-finalists Villarreal on Sunday and Lopetegui has confirmed that Martial will not be available for the clash. He said (via their official website ) when asked about some of his injured players including Martial: "They've not got the all-clear medically, and they're not ready to play.

"They've trained with the team but they won't travel. Suso was close, he had a little problem but now he's on the same path as Martial and Rekik."
