Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo piles misery on Steven Gerrard during Al Nassr victory

Former Manchester United stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Telles were both on the scoresheet for Al Nassr as they beat Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq 3-1 in the Saudi Pro League.

The Liverpool icon's side have not tasted victory in the Middle East top flight since October 28 and rarely threatened to end that run against Al Nassr. The hosts took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Telles' superb volley flew into the back of the net.

Less than 20 minutes after the interval, Al Nassr had doubled their advantage thanks to a Marcelo Brozovic strike which put the game beyond doubt before the hour mark. Ronaldo added gloss to the scoreline with 15 minutes remaining as he converted from the penalty spot.

Mohammed Al Kuwaykibi pulled a goal back late on for Gerrard's men who boast Jordan Henderson in their ranks, but it was merely a consolation. The result means Al Nassr continue their quest to close the gap to league leaders Al Hilal, but with the gap at ten points, it looks like an increasingly difficult task for Ronaldo's team.

What Gerrard would give to swap places with Al Nassr though. His team have now won six, drawn six and lost six, which leaves them sitting comfortably in mid-table. While they are still some way above the drop zone, Al Ettifaq were hoping to be challenging towards the top of the division but this is looking unlikely so far.

Al Nassr have now won two of the three meetings with Gerrard's side having lost to Al Ettifaq on the opening weekend. They did manage to gain revenge recently with a narrow victory in King's Cup round of 16.
