Manchester United issue statement after Super League judgement
Manchester United insist they remain committed to competing in Uefa competitions in the wake of a ruling that claimed the European football governing body had no legal right to block the inception of the Super League.
Following the ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ), management company A22 announced plans for a 64-team competition to effectively gazump the Champions League.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez described it as a "great day for the history of football and for the history of sports".
Perez, former Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli and United co-chairman Joel Glazer were the three figures who endorsed the breakaway league when it was announced in April 2021.
After a fierce backlash from supporters, United withdrew from their planned participation, along with the other five Premier League clubs.

United supporters protested against the Super League more ardently than any other fanbase, forcing the postponement of their May 2021 Premier League home fixture against Liverpool.
With Glazer's profile set to be diluted by the imminent investment of the Ineos Group, United have confirmed their backing for the three Uefa competitions: the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.
United said in a statement: "Our position has not changed. We remain fully committed to participation in Uefa competitions, and to positive cooperation with Uefa, the Premier League, and fellow clubs through the ECA on the continued development of the European game."
