Manchester United icon fires clear Sir Jim Ratcliffe transfer demand with £60m 'top of wishlist'

Manchester United have been given the go-ahead to try and sign Crystal Palace star winger Michael Olise.

The Red Devils are interested in the 22-year-old but face a battle with Chelsea to complete a transfer this summer. Whilst Enzo Maresca and his side get down to business, confirming a managerial appointment and first summer addition in Tosin Adarabioyo, there is a wait at Old Trafford.

Uncertainty still follows Erik ten Hag as Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe finish their review of the club following the partial takeover earlier this year. That could leave United on the back foot when it comes to Olise, who already has ties to London and Chelsea having spent time in the academy as a junior.

Olise also played for the Manchester City academy as well as Arsenal's youth setup. Now he is one of the most sought-after players heading into the summer window.

It is thought that he will be available for £60million having added a new release clause into his contract last summer upon extending his stay at Selhurst Park. Whilst United are also considering new additions elsewhere in the form of Jarrad Branthwaite and Benjamin Sesko, to name just two, former striker Teddy Sheringham has pointed them in the direction of Olise.

"I’d like to see Michael Olise as a Manchester United player," he told Genting Casino. "He has been at the top of his game for Crystal Palace over the last few months of the season and he should be at the top of United’s wish list.
