Manchester United icon David Beckham helps paint Lionel Messi mural ahead of Inter Miami transfer

Manchester United icon and Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham took to the skies this weekend to help paint a Lionel Messi mural in the American city.

Barcelona's legendary forward announced last month he would be joining the MLS Eastern Conference club after talks over a return to the Catalan club broke down. It is expected the Herons will also complete the signing of Sergio Busquets while Jordi Alba has also been linked.

While no official announcement has yet been made, Inter's social media accounts have hinted at the arrivals of both Messi and Busquets. Ahead of his expected arrival later this month, Beckham has embraced his arty side and helped paint a mural of the Argentine great in Miami.

Sharing his handiwork on Instagram, Beckham's wife and former Spice Girl Victoria videoed her husband working hard on Messi's teeth. In the video, she can be heard saying: "So I think David has done a really good job of painting Messi here in Miami.

"Only been here a few days and he got straight to it but look it is massive. Is there nothing David Beckham cannot do? He is up there painting away, I am impressed."

Beckham will be hopeful the new artwork will inspire Messi on the pitch as the Herons need all the help they can get to salvage this season. After 21 matches, Miami sit bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference with 18 points to their name.

The Herons are eight points behind the last Final Series play off spot which is held by Montreal. On Saturday, the Herons were pegged back twice as they drew 2-2 with Wayne Rooney's DC United.
