NFL legend Tom Brady sends message to David Beckham as Lionel Messi's Inter Miami move confirmed

NFL icon Tom Brady has congratulated David Beckham following the confirmation of Lionel Messi's move to Inter Miami.

Messi's move to the MLS side was finalised on Saturday, with the World Cup winner set to be unveiled at the stadium on Sunday. The Barcelona legend announced in May he would be joining the Herons after a move back to Camp Nou fell through.

While Miami had not confirmed his arrival until now, they had hinted on social media he was arriving in the MLS Eastern Conference. Upon confirmation, the club's co-owner Beckham wrote on Instagram that his dream to bring the greatest players to the United States had come true.

He added: "I couldn’t be prouder that a player of Leo’s calibre is joining our club but I’m also delighted to welcome a friend, an amazing person and his beautiful family to join our @InterMiamiCF community."

Former Tampa Bay Bucaneers quarterback Brady was among thousands of people to send their best wishes, commenting 'congratulations' alongside a strong arm emoji.

Throughout his incredible career, the 36-year-old has scored a whopping 710 goals in total, 672 of these strikes came during his highly successful spell at Barcelona. In December, Messi captured the one trophy which has alluded him until now, the World Cup following Argentina's thrilling victory over France in Qatar.

Messi has signed two-and-a-half-year with the American club who sit 15th in the Eastern Conference. It is expected Messi will make his debut for Miami in the Leagues Cup opener against Mexican team Cruz Azul on Friday, July 21.
