Manchester United have been tipped to revive their interest in Ruben Neves

Transfer insider Pete O’Rourke is ‘sure’ Manchester United will ‘rekindle their interest’ in Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves next summer.

The Red Devils have long been tipped to sign some engine room reinforcements following several underwhelming displays from the current options at the club.

Neves has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the last two transfer windows after catching the eye since arriving on English shores, even being compared to former United star Michael Carrick.

Last summer, journalist Duncan Castle’s revealed (via This is Futbol) that Pedro Neto, Adama Traore and the midfield maestro were all made available for the right price by Wolves as they looked to raise funds.

The Sun then claimed that the Midlands outfit were willing to listen to offers of around £35 million for Neves with Arsenal also interested, but he ended up staying put.

Just last month, the same outlet stated that United were ‘determined’ to sign the Portugal international in the January transfer window after new manager Ralf Rangnick was left disappointed by the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay.

It’s believed that Neves is happy at Wolves yet is unlikely to sign an extension on his current contract – which expires in 2024 – as he eyes the next stage in his development.

In a recent interview, Neves admitted he misses playing in the Champions League after doing so with former club Porto before saying it is the ‘main goal of every player’ to play in the competition.
