Manchester United have been given perfect chance to secure Erik ten Hag's dream full-back transfer
Everyone already knows what Manchester United need to do this summer.
Erik ten Hag has done a remarkable job in his first season at Old Trafford but it's clear United are still lacking some elite-level quality to compete at the very top of the table with juggernauts Manchester City. As a result, a crucial transfer window awaits.
A striker, of course, is the biggest priority. United are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the top half and their achievements this season have been made even more impressive by the fact they have mostly operated without a top striker. Cristiano Ronaldo was never suited and stormed off last year, Anthony Martial has been injured more than he's been fit and Wout Weghorst's quality sadly doesn't match his effort.

If it wasn't for Marcus Rashford rediscovering his form United would be severely outgunned and the burden needs to be taken off his shoulders. Another quality midfielder is also wanted. The drop in quality when Casemiro or Christian Eriksen haven't been available has been stark and neither of them are spring chickens any more.
Both positions are extremely expensive to recruit in and if United want to sign the best and most sought-after stars - Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Jude Bellingham, Alexis Mac Allister - then it's going to be yet another costly window. But they are not the only positions that require attention.
Even if it's just signing Jack Butland permanently, another goalkeeper to bolster the ranks will be needed and the defence will likely need work too. United have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks and it shows how quickly they can be down to the bare bones. They look shakey without Raphael Varane
