Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana finally arrives at AFCON as selection call made

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has finally arrived at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but missed out on a place in the squad for their opening match vs Guinea.

Onana made a speedy exit from Manchester following the Reds' 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to make it back in time for Cameroon's clash with Guinea. However, his journey to the Ivory Coast was not a smooth one.

Despite taking a private flight from Manchester Airport, his jet was blocked in Abidjan, Ivory Coast due to bad weather conditions in Yamoussoukro, where his team played on Monday evening. This meant Onana found himself 150 miles from the stadium.

A report from Sports Vibes indicated the 27-year-old would be travelling by car to get there in time for kick-off. While Onana has been pictured arriving in the city, it was ultimately too late for him to make the team.

Instead, Rigobert Song has chosen to start Nimes' shot-stopper Fabrice Ondoa. According to the teamsheet, Onana has not made his way onto the bench either - an outcome which could frustrate the Cameroonian FA.

Following the defeat to Nottingham Forest, United, Onana and the Football Association began negotiations to see if Erik ten Hag's first choice could have his arrival date pushed back. An agreement was reached so the 'keeper could play against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup and Spurs this weekend.
