Manchester United favourite Dimitar Berbatov sends Liverpool title race warning to Man City

Dimitar Berbatov has warned Manchester City the Premier League title race isn't over yet as we head into the final day of the season.

City go into their last match of the campaign in the driving seat, knowing that if they are victorious against Aston Villa at the Etihad then they will be champions of England for a fourth time in five years — regardless of what happens elsewhere. However, if they slip up then things could get interesting.

Liverpool are just a point behind Pep Guardiola's side, so if the Blues lose or draw then Liverpool would instead be crowned champions if they win at Wolves. And former Manchester United striker Berbatov hasn't ruled that outcome out.

"I think everything is possible when it comes to big games and the Premier League," the Bulgarian told the Daily Mail. "It was a major boost for City that Liverpool dropped points. But nothing is finished yet.

"If someone can stop them it’s Liverpool. Even though you’re Man City, the opposition always plays 100 per cent against you and it’s up to them now, when they have that lead, to keep it and not drop points.

"But at the same time we have witnessed major upsets in the Premier League. Every team can drop points even if you’re City or Liverpool. It doesn’t matter. So it’s not finished yet.

"Obviously my team [United] is not there. So it’s a pity for me but City and Liverpool playing such good football that they fully deserve to be where they are."

When asked if this year's title race was one of the best to date, Berbatov added: "It’s the Premier League, you have big teams, the drama — you have everything that you want to have in the way of football.
