Manchester United fans who criticised former coach have forgotten everything the club stands for

There have been a lot of changes at Manchester United since the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

The summer signings of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo had United dreaming of a Premier League title charge, but it didn't take long for such dreams to be shattered.

It soon became apparent that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had taken the club as far as he could and the United legend was relieved of his duties after a damning 4-1 defeat to Watford.

One of the problems Solskjaer encountered at United was that a lot of the fans never truly believed he could be the man to take them back to the top of English football. A lack of managerial experience at the top level meant that he was always going to be scrutinised by sections of the fanbase.

It wasn't just Solskjaer who was highly criticised at times during his United reign, his backroom staff also took plenty of the blame.

Kieran McKenna was always regarded as one of the most talented coaches at United, though some fans decided to pinpoint him as the reason for the club's struggles.

McKenna has since left Old Trafford having decided to pursue a career in management and if his first few months in charge of League One side Ipswich Town are anything to go by, those United fans who criticised him owe him a big apology.

When McKenna took the reins are the Tractor Boys, they found themselves in 12th position in the table, nine points off a play-off spot.

Without a win in their last five matches, it looked to be a tall order for someone as inexperienced as McKenna to get their season back on track in their bid to secure promotion back to the Championship.
