Manchester United fans raise concerns over line-up for Atletico Madrid

Manchester United supporters are concerned after watching Erik ten Hag name his starting XI for the pre-season showdown with Atletico Madrid in Oslo this lunchtime (12.45pm).

After clocking up summer wins over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace - before drawing with Aston Villa - the squad returned to Carrington and then jetted-out to Norway for the first part of a doubleheader. United follow this friendly up against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Given the quick turnaround, there will be two completely different squads used for those games as Ten Hag gives further opportunities to those in pole position to start on the opening day here. But how many from those chosen will make the cut against Brighton?

United named a 21-man squad for their fleeting journey to Oslo as Luke Shaw and Cristiano Ronaldo were among those left at home. Speculation over Ronaldo and his United future continues, but he could feature when the side return to Old Trafford for a match against Rayo on Sunday afternoon.

Jadon Sancho was highlighted as an injury doubt in the build-up and he misses from the squad out as a precaution. It means that rejuvenated duo, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, will be joined by Anthony Elanga in attacking quarters at the Ullevaal Stadium.
