Manchester United fans might have just discovered a new favourite player

Researchers have identified three main stages of falling in love and they're said to be: lust, attraction and attachment.

It's dangerous to fall in love with a loan player, but Manchester United fans were swooning over Sergio Reguilon at the weekend after it emerged that he'd requested to play against Burnley despite being unwell prior to the game.

There have been well over a dozen mercenaries to play in a red shirt over the last decade and that sort of commitment, still wanting to contribute after being unwell, is what supporters want from those who represent the club.

The bare minimum requirement is maximum effort and Reguilon was available for selection at Turf Moor, which was important considering he's the only left-back in the squad after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Reguilon was replaced with 10 minutes to go and he appeared to have pain in his hamstring. He drew rousing applause from the sold-out away support and his popularity increased again when Ten Hag revealed he'd been ill.

Ten Hag said after the 1-0 win: "Reguilon was ill - and that says a lot about the character and the spirit that this team wants to show. He wanted to play. He wanted to support and contribute to the team.
