Manchester United fans launch furious protest ahead of Liverpool clash as huge crowd stand against the Glazers

Manchester United fans have once again come together to protest against the Glazer family ahead of their clash with Liverpool on Monday night.

The Old Trafford faithful have long been disgruntled with the American owners who have failed to deliver a league title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013. It's been almost a decade of misery with just a few bright spots as David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick have all come and gone.

Erik ten Hag is the latest man charged with the job of turning things around but he's lost his first two games in charge - with last week's 4-0 thumping against Brentford leaving them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and desperately needing to take something against arch-rivals Liverpool. And fans have come together before the game to voice their discontent at the current owners.

Supporters' group 'The 1958' have led fans from the Tollgate pub to the Trinity statue outside the stadium. The group says the protest is against "an ownership that is systematically starving and killing the greatest football institution in world football, for greed."

United fans congregated outside the stadium with banners and plenty of green and white scarves and shirts on show - harking back to the club's roots when they were known as Newton Heath in the late 19th century. The skies were filled with green and gold smoke, the colours associated with the anti-Glazer sentiment.
