Manchester United fans have Michael Carrick regret after Ralf Rangnick departure

Manchester United fans have a regret about Michael Carrick after Ralf Rangnick left the club on Sunday.

Rangnick — who was appointed the head coach of Austria back in April — left United by mutual consent before he had the opportunity to start his role as a consultant at Old Trafford. In a statement, the club said: "We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months.

"By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford. We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career."

On the German's arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, Carrick decided to step down as first team coach having been caretaker manager between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leaving and Rangnick joining.

Now, following the news of Rangnick's quick exit from Old Trafford, United fans now feel that it was mistake to let the former midfielder leave the club, especially in the context of the disastrous season Rangnick oversaw. Here is what United fans have said on Twitter.
