Manchester United fans all make the same Donny van de Beek point after transfer confirmed

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has completed a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt with a view to a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old arrived as a highly-rated £35million midfielder, with that fee possibly rising to £40m, but he struggled to ever recapture the dazzling form from his time at Ajax. Van de Beek failed to keep a regular place in the United team, being limited to 62 appearances across his three-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.

There was hope that being reunited with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag could help Van de Beek rediscover his best football but he still only featured on 12 occasions, including just two league starts. The Netherlands international will hope that the Bundesliga will offer him a fresh start as he ventures out on his second spell away from United, following his loan move to Everton in 2021.

Eintracht Frankfurt have paid United a minimal loan fee but will be paying the majority of Van de Beek’s wages ahead of a possible €11million deal (£9.55m) in the summer, with €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons. This would represent a £25.45m loss for the Reds and supporters have wished the midfielder good luck while lamenting their club's poor transfer planning.

@UTDGoni: Gentle reminder that Van de beek was amongst the top 30 players ranked for the Ballon d'Or before he joined us.
