Manchester United fans agree on ‘important’ theory as Christian Eriksen pictured back in training

Manchester United supporters agree that their team has missed Christian Eriksen’s "important" presence and are itching to see him back partnering Casemiro in midfield after the Dane was pictured back in training.

Erik ten Hag confirmed the playmaker had taken part in team drills again earlier this week having been sidelined since sustaining an ankle injury in January's FA Cup clash with Reading.

His absence prompted United to make a deadline-day move for Marcel Sabitzer, who has joined on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season. Wednesday’s clash with Brentford came too soon for Eriksen and it remains to be seen whether he will make his return against Everton on Saturday.

The 31-year-old joined United on a free in the summer following his comeback spell at Brentford and has tallied two goals and nine assists so far this season, becoming a much-admired figure among the Old Trafford faithful.

Eriksen was photographed taking part in running and ball exercises in training for the first time since January on Thursday, the Scandinavian sporting a thick beard and looking in good spirits.

United fans were delighted to see one of their star players back on the grass. Those on Twitter agreed that his absence since January had been felt greatly with many looking forward to see him making his competitive return alongside Casemiro.

The latter is set to serve the final of his four-match domestic ban on Saturday following his red card against Southampton last month. It means the next opportunity both he and Eriksen could renew their partnership is against Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals next Thursday.
