Manchester United 'face monstrous competition for Victor Osimhen' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly set to face serious competition from Newcastle in the battle to sign Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

MEN Sport previously revealed Tottenham striker Harry Kane was United's top priority in the summer. However, this week sources told the MEN, the Reds are working under the assumption Spurs will not sell their talisman.

Osimhen is of genuine interest to United, with Erik ten Hag a fan of the 24-year-old. Other names who have also been considered include Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani.

Should Ten Hag wish to target the Serie A champions' Nigerian forward, they could be in for a battle. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United will need to 'watch out for' Eddie Howe's men who are ready to submit a 'monstrous proposal' for the player.

It is believed the Magpies were fans of Osimhen last year but struggled to make an offer because they could not offer him Champions League football. Elsewhere, United midfielder Scott McTominay could be set to leave Old Trafford.

Football Insider reports the Scotland international has informed some of his close friends he wants to leave the Reds after struggling for game time. It is understood McTominay fears the club will sign another central midfielder in the summer which would push him down the pecking order further.

Should McTominay decide to leave the Theatre of Dreams, the report claims both West Ham and Newcastle have shown an interest in his services.
