Manchester United duo snubbed in latest England squad as Lee Carsley makes shock decision

Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford have been left out of Lee Carsley's England squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.

While the decision to leave out Rashford, who hasn't been included in an England squad since March but the decision to exclude Maguire, who started in last month's win over Ireland, has come as a surprise.

Maguire has been a regular for England since 2017 but he has seemingly paid the price for a lack of game-time at United, having featured in just 16 minutes of Premier League action since the last international break.

United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is the only member of Erik ten Hag's squad to earn a call-up to the latest Three Lions squad, with manager Lee Carsley continuing to promote younger players from within the system.

Under-21 graduates Anthony Gordon, Angel Gomes, Morgan Gibbs-White, Noni Madueke and Rico Lewis have all been called up, while Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke has also earned a call-up.

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has lost his place in the squad while there was no recall for Tottenham midfielder James Maddison, despite his impressive performance in the 3-0 win over United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Man City duo Kyle Walker and Phil Foden have been recalled to the squad alongside Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham and so, too, has Chelsea's Cole Palmer after he missed the last international fixtures through injury.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Nick Pope
