Manchester United dream signing already has Jadon Sancho approval

Manchester United players did not need to speak with their media advisers to know that 'fan sentiment graphs' would advise against social media apologies at the weekend. After another wasteful performance in which United failed to capitalise upon their dominance, they dropped more points against a team fighting a relegation battle. Still, it was an improvement from their last meeting, at least.

United players, or at least their advisers, saw some sense in avoiding social media backlash by posting hollow apologies, but a failure to take responsibility for their own shortcomings has been a common theme at Old Trafford in the last few years. Whenever a poor result occurs, the usual faces are the ones thrown in front of the media to churn out all the cliches about their disappointment, citing the fans' 'deserve more' and ending with a pledge to put things right next time around. Rarely does it happen.

It might be a tedious debate, but supporters would certainly have more sympathy if an individual spoke openly after a match and broke down the broadcasting stereotypes by showing some personality rather than regurgitating sanitised speak that passes club compliance. This summer, United will look to rebuild their team once again with talented individuals, but perhaps the most important attribute for any new recruit will be their honesty, coupled with the hard work and determination to put things right.
