Manchester United could unveil a new midfield partnership vs Leicester City

Casemiro and Fred

After an encouraging 10-minute cameo at St Mary's on Saturday, Manchester United's new Brazilian midfielder Casemiro could make his full debut for the club tonight.

The 30-year-old, signed from Real Madrid for an initial £60million, could anchor the midfield and there is a chance Erik ten Hag will make changes with United playing on Thursday and Sunday when early leaders Arsenal visit Old Trafford.

The make-up of Ten Hag's first-choice midfield remains something of a mystery at the moment, but Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes must be two certainties to start.

Scott McTominay has begun the last two games, but he could become Casemiro's deputy, with Fred and Christian Eriksen vying for the other role.

Casemiro and Fred have developed a good understanding in the Brazil midfield and there has to be a chance they will look to bring that Samba symbiosis to Manchester, possibly starting at the King Power tonight.

Defensive partnership

United have weathered spells of pressure in their back-to-back wins against Liverpool and Southampton, but they've emerged from those games with six points and only one goal conceded.

It will be interesting to see if Ten Hag rotates defensively tonight. There has been a suspicion he will chop and change at the back, but in 180 minutes together Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have already developed a good understanding.

That's meant successive games on the bench for captain Harry Maguire and he could have no complaints if he suffers a similar fate back at his former club. Ten Hag might well look to develop the promising understanding between Varane and Martinez that has begun to develop.
