Manchester United could hand out a debut vs Arsenal

Moving on?

One of the few positives this week at Manchester United was the sight of Alvaro Fernandez in training, for the prospect of one of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alex Telles starting is cause for dread.

Ralf Rangnick downplayed the possibility of giving Hannibal Mejbri and Alejandro Garnacho playing time last week, but that was before Norwich left Old Trafford rueing the final score and United were destroyed by Liverpool. Mejbri came on at Anfield and, among the most uncaring bunch of United players in living memory, clearly cares.

Left-back Fernandez seems unlikely to feature on Saturday having been in action with the Under-23s on Friday. Hannibal was also named in Neil Wood's side and so isn't expected to make an appearance at the Emirates, though Garnacho could be handed his debut having travelled down to London with the senior side.

Does Mejbri start?

Bruno Fernandes is not an obvious player to drop but his performance level, poor prior to his contract renewal, has nosedived since his bank balance increased.

Fernandes sounded like he was curating a post-match tweet when interviewed at Anfield, where he was ineffectual again. Ralf Rangnick jolted Fernandes when he briefly dropped him in January and Fernandes needs jolting again.

How does Rangnick justify starting Maguire?

Raphael Varane is back but it remains to be seen who will partner him. If it went to a poll, Harry Maguire would struggle to generate double figures for the percentage. Maguire was the worst of the centre-backs against Liverpool yet he has somehow avoided an outright demotion this season, starting a couple of games on the bench after returning from injury in January.

Ronaldo, Sancho and...
