Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick hints at retirement plans as he praises Roy Hodgson

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has hinted at his retirement plans while praising Roy Hodgson's longevity in the game.

The current Watford boss began his managerial career in 1976 and the Hornets represent the 74-year-old's 23rd job in management.

Rangnick, 63, was full of praise for the former England head coach and admitted that he could not see himself managing at Hodgson's age.

"Yes, I admire him for his energy and it’s still a difference if you are a manager in England with that many games to play without a winter break, so I admire him for that," Rangnick said.

"I’m not so sure if in my 70s I still want to be in charge as a head coach, no matter in which country, but this is what I admire him for.

"He’s a fantastic person, whenever I saw him in the past, whenever we spoke, it was always great fun to speak with him and he’s just a nice character."

Both bosses will be desperate for three points on Saturday afternoon but for very different reasons.

United will be looking for a victory to help them in their battle for fourth place while Watford need a result to boost their hopes of retaining their Premier League status.
